Changing My Frame of Mind

Yesterday I mentioned that counting calories wasn't serving me very well...This is why:  For lunch yesterday I had a leftover 6" meatball marinara sub from Subway.  When I got it, I knew it wasn't the best choice, and it's odd because I almost always get a Veggie Delite, but it sounded good.  So I looked up the nutritional info and found out it was 580 calories.  Not so great, but manageable.  Well, in WW+ terms it's 15 points, which is horrible!  To put it into perspective, I'm shooting for a ~1400 calorie day, so that's less than half of my calorie limit.  Well my 'allowed' WW+ points are 27, so that makes it well over half of my points.  I feel like since there are more criteria dictating a 'point' it's probably the better system to use.

On a semi-related note, I found this great resource, with WW points for all sorts of different alcoholic drinks.  Remember I said I wasn't sure how many points the wine would cost me?  Well, now I am (4 points for a generous glass of cab)!

Weight this morning: 203.  Happy to lose over 3 pounds in a day, but it's probably mainly being less bloated in general.

This morning I made a pumpkin smoothie (5 points) for breakfast, which was delicious.  There's a good chance my points were slightly different, as I used soy milk instead of skim, etc., but we'll go with it.  For lunch, I had leftover tortellini with meat sauce, and a hunk of baguette.  This threw me off worse than the meatball sub yesterday.  I wasn't able to weigh it, so I guessed at portions and plugged the ingredients into The Daily Plate, and when I plugged in the carbs, fiber, protein, & fat into the WW+ point calculator, it came up 16!  This is horrifying, mainly because for a dinner portion I probably would usually eat 2-3 times as much as I brought for lunch.  That's where changing my mind set comes into play.

I usually tend to eat fairly 'healthy', not a lot of junk food, no pop, etc....but I've always overeaten.  I have always known this, but I'm just now starting to understand the degree.  I am feeling pretty grossed out by it, and now I have the challenge again of finding a sub-7 point dinner.  Luckily, I was already planning to make some chicken noodle soup for a coworker, and soup is usually a pretty safe option.  I think since it's mainly veggies, broth, and chicken breast, it'll come out pretty safe.  Safe enough to sneak some wine in again?  ;)
